We always try to support different levels of assembly skills, this time we think we nailed them all with a single design.
We use 2 interlocking 3 inch circle boards to form a sphere of 24 LEDs, this board is the same one used in the 12 LED Circle. We have 5mm holes that by bending the LED legs the LEDs are visible from both sides.
But wait, Dale wanted support for 10mm LEDS, so we added support for them too!
With so many options, take a look through the photos in the assembly instructions to decide how you want to assemble yours:
- LEDs on the front
- LEDs alternating front and back
- LEDs on edge (radially mounted)
- LEDs through the board
The design has two buttons to select the pattern. Like most of our boards it has the IR emitter and receiver for two way communication to other blinkie boards. This blinkie design was introduced in 2009 at Duckon 18.
Some beginners (and some experts) have had trouble soldering the four battery holders and the mounting pin to the board. The circuit boards come with these components already soldered on.
